Terrence Toh started his journey in music making as a singer in the choirs of Victoria School, Victoria Junior College, Victoria Chorale and the National University of Singapore.

In December 2003, notably his debut as a conductor participating in an international choral competition, Terrence led the National University of Singapore Choir and Tanjong Katong Secondary School choir to four gold awards in four competition categories at the 21st Century International Choral Festival in Genting, Malaysia. Furthermore, the NUS Choir was awarded the “Best Interpretation Award” for the set piece of the competition and Terrence’s inspired conducting led the adjudicators to confer upon him the “Most Promising Conductor Award”, an attestation of his immense potential as a musician.

In the following years, Terrence led Ngee Ann Primary School Choir to her first ever gold award in the 2004 Singapore Youth Festival(SYF) Central Judging. Subsequently, he clinched gold awards in another international choral competition, Voyage of Songs 2005 with the TKSS choir and also emerged 2nd runner-up in the competition’s grand finals. Following that achievement, Terrence led the Anderson Junior College choir and the NUS Choir to more gold awards at the Voyage of Songs 2007, Pattaya, Thailand. He also served as the assistant conductor of Victoria Chorale, which was crowned category champion of Sacra Acapella in the World Choir Games 2006 Xiamen, China.

He led the Anglican High School choir to its first Gold with Honours award in the 2007 SYF Central Judging, a feat he repeated in 2009. As the choral director of AHS choir, he choreographed and directed the choir’s first musical to a rousing success. Following that, he led the choir to a high scoring Golden Medal in the Festival of Songs 2008 held in Olomouc, Czech Republic and a Gold Diploma in the Consorso Corale Internazionale 11th International Choir Competition 2010 held in Riva del Garda, Italy.

Likewise, Terrence led the Nanyang Junior College choir to its first Gold award in the 2011 SYF Central Judging, following a fruitful year that included a sold out concert and a successful competition trip to Olomouc, Czech Republic.

Terrence continues to inspire his students and peers with his passion for music and dedication towards music education in the capacity of resident choral director of Anglican High School Choir, Nanyang Junior College Choir, Pioneer Junior College Choir, Pasir Ris Secondary School, Katong Convent and Catholic High Primary School Choir. He is also the choral director of EVOKX, a choir he started in 2010 to draw all his ex-students back together in a quest to engage these youths in community and social services.
