Chiak Yin started her career as a professional conductor in 1999 and is currently the resident choir conductor of The Wild Empire, Pioneer Junior College, Tampines Junior College, Crescent Girls’ School, Kranji Secondary School, Pasir Ris Crest Secondary School, Saint Joseph Institue (Junior) and Tao Nan School.

Chiak Yin has worked with many celebrated musicians from all over the world: In 2004, she collaborated with Maestro Tsung Yeh of China in Singapore Chinese Orchestra’s Phenomenal Zhao Ji Ping - Raise the Red Lantern.   In 2005, she worked with Maestro Fraser Goulding of UK , in Singapore Lyric Opera’s production of Glimpses of Asia - Singapore Lyric Opera’s 15th Anniversary Concert and was also the Co-Chorus Master in Puccini’s Opera Madama Butterfly.  In 2006, she collaborated with Dr Subramaniam from India and Dr Lum Yan Sing from the NUS Chinese Orchestra for the international premiere of Transformation- a new age fusion piece that combines classical Chinese instruments with Indian drums and choral voices.

Chiak Yin has a Distinction in Level 8 Singing Performance from Australian Guild Music Conservatorium and the ATCL in Recital-Singing from Trinity.   In 2003, she obtained Distinctions in “Choral Conducting” & “Group Vocal Technique” from the Westminster Choir College of Rider University, New Jersey USA under the teachings of Dr James Jordan and Ms Heather Buchanan.    In 2006, she was the sole Singaporean representative at the highly acclaimed “Eric Ericson Master Class on Choral & Orchestral Conducting” in Lund, Sweden, learning under the conducting greats like Eric Ericson, Andrew Parrot, Cecilia Rydinger Alin. In 2007, she participated the ”4th European Academy for Choral Conductors & Singers”, organised by FENIARCO (Federazione Nazionale Italiana – Associazioni Regionali Chorali)in Fano, Italy. She was one of the 12, selected from a group of 40 and more conductors over the world, to conduct the Coro Giovanile Italiano (Italian Youth Choir) and the Coro Laboratorio (lab choir) under the direction of Maestro Filippo Maria Bressan, towards a concert that was very much well-received.

Her choirs have received awards in local and International choral events like the biennial National inter-schools competition – The Singapore Youth Festival; and International choral competition - 21st Century International Choral Festival in Genting Highlands, Malaysia; 16th Australia International Music Festival in Sydney, Australia; and “Voyage of Songs” 2005, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
