Joyce has an undoubted love and passion for music. She started singing and playing the piano at a young age, and thereafter attained a Distinction in Grade 8 Pianoforte when she was 12 years old. In addition, Joyce was also one of the finalists in the 10th National Music Competition in the same year. More recently, she obtained a Merit in Grade 8 Voice, 2007.

In her secondary and college school days, Joyce was an active choir member and served both as student pianist and section leader. Upon graduation, Joyce joined the Victoria Chorale and also served as section leader. Since 2002, she worked as accompanist for numerous Primary and Secondary school choirs, and accompanied the choirs yearly at the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging of Choirs. She also accompanied choirs at school and public concerts locally, as well as at international choral competitions and festivals in Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Japan and Czech Republic.

Joyce is currently the choral conductor for 2 Primary school choirs. Under her guidance, she led both choirs to the SYF 2010 Central Judging. East Spring Primary achieved their first Gold award, and Chongzheng Primary attained a Silver award. Joyce believes that music is an expression of emotions that comes from the heart, transcending cultures and languages. She shares her passion for music with her choirs, and hopes that every member will be able to develop their love for music too.
