CDAS Annual General Meeting Minutes

The CDAS Annual General Meeting 2008 was held on 7pm, 4th October 2008 at Rio Vista Condominium Function Room.

The Treasurer, Mr Yong Chee Foon started the AGM with his report of the CDAS accounts.

The Chairman, Mr Nelson Kwei then continued with his report of the events organised by CDAS in 2007/2008.

CDAS organised a total of 3 events in 2007 and early 2008.

1) CDAS Conducting Workshop

Date : 17th December 2007

Venue : Siglap South Community Centre

Clinician : Mr Mark O’Leary (Australia)

2) Workshop for Choir Leaders

Date : 18th December 2007

Venue : Tanjong Katong Secondary School

Attended by 221 Music leaders from various secondary schools and junior colleges

3) Divertimento, Primary School Choral Presentation

Held in Victoria Concert Hall on 22nd February 2008

12 primary school choirs participated in the event with a total of about 600 students in attendance

Mr Nelson Kwei then proceeds on to introduce the upcoming CDAS events.

1) Choral Directors’ Retreat

CDAS is inviting all our members to come join us in a 2 Day / 1 Night Choral Directors’ Retreat in Johor Bahru, Malaysia on 26th/27th December. Participating members will get to mingle with other conductors as well as participate in a series of activities aimed to help our members in their work.

2) CDAS Chinese New Year Gathering

CDAS will be organising CNY visiting to some of our members’ home. The tentative date will be 28th of Jan  or third day of the Chinese New Year.

The Secretary, Mr Foong Hak Luen then continued with the introduction of the new CDAS website.

Some new features of the website:

i) Each member will get their own webpage in the website with their picture and personal write-up.

ii) Members can use the website publicise their choral performances or events.

iii) Members will also be able to find news & information of local or overseas choral events & competitions.

iv) Each member will get a CDAS email address. All mails will then be forwarded to member’s main email address.

Once we have collected majority of our member’s information, CDAS will be sending official letters to all the schools in Singapore to introduce our association and to publicise our website. We hope that this will help promote the association as well as the profile of all our members.

Members are encouraged to send in their pictures & write-up to the Secretary at info@cdas.org.sg

Members in attendance then voted for the Executive Committee for 2008/2009.

Membership Matters

Please note that the above activities, events and website functions are only available to our fully-paid members. The committee would like to take this chance to remind our members to process payment for membership renewal as soon as possible.

* All membership paid between 1st July 2007 and 30th June 2009 will only expire on 30th June  2010.
Renewal of membership is $96. Cheques should be addressed to “Choral Directors’ Association (Singapore)”.
